    Two weeks!
    My wife hates it when I say fortnight,… or anon, or nigh, or any other of those seldom used gems (I’m forgetting better examples at the moment). And I’m not pretentious, I speak what I have read in my years.

    I honestly thought this was a joke at first! In Australia the word is in common usage, especially as schools have a fortnight’s holiday between terms. A word that is less known, however, is “Sennight”. Anyone like to guess the meaning of that one? (without googling it!)

    A Sennight is 1 week (seven nights), just as a fortnight is 14 nights:)
