  1. Whereas I like the approach, I still don’t fully comprehend the process of cremation in terms of ‘giving back to the Earth’. I realize the human body is mostly liquid and gooey bits, but isn’t there a way of – I don’t know – mulching our remains with soil and other nutrients that would be even better than carbonized soil? I have a much easier time imagining that some of ‘me’ would remain in such a mix as any tree makes it’s way to the skies!

  2. I like this idea so much more than burying a fancy casket, especially since a cremation does not necessarily have to take up space in a graveyard. Much better to visit your ancestor in the back yard. Not to mention that a cremation is available for significantly less cost than a burial. Not that I am a cheap person, but it just seems wasteful to bury so much money. Why not go with cremation, and donate the money saved to a worthwhile cause? As for the tree, nothing would make me happier than thinking that my grandchildren could swing on the branch of a tree that grew with my assistance.
