Every morning, on my way to work, I hear a commercial for a company in the Greater STL Area that is having some sort of contest to win free IVF treatments (in case you’ve been living under a rock, IVF is the ‘process by which an egg is fertilized by sperm outside the body’ and then implanted back into the hopeful mother-to-be.)
It gives me pause… because that’s almost, one step away—if you really think about it, to having a contest to WIN A FREE BABY!
I’m sure there are a lot of discussions going around regarding the morality of this; whether it’s good or bad; and I’m sure YOU have your thoughts one way or the other, but..
My thought was– what if I want to enter this contest, but I don’t want a baby?
Do I HAVE to take the baby?
Don’t get me wrong, I like babies; sure. They’re cute and all.. but I’m past that stage. My babies are almost all ‘growd’ up!
Is there a secondary choice for the prize? Is there anything out there that’s worth about the same as a baby?
I wonder what kind of contest it is..I’m tempted to enter anyway – just for a chance to win. In fact I’m pretty sure I could dominate–I’m super good at word puzzles – gosh, I hope it’s a word puzzle..

some schools aren’t teaching cursive writing anymore.. this is our future… or fingerprint scanners.
My son, who plays the trombone (and btw, is the self-proclaimed best marcher) in the band, is playing his solo and ensemble in districts this weekend – if he gets a ‘1’ score, he’ll get to take his ‘bone’ to state! Best wishes – and good luck, sir!
