    Some of these are pretty easy — a knocker-up woke up workers before there were alarm clocks, proprietor of midgets ran a “freak show”, a knight of the thimble was a tailor, the colorist for taxidermy fish, even the imbecile one (too disabled to work) . . . but some of them are so odd that I think were people joking around!
